Eminence Community Schools
ECSC consists of Eminence Community Preschool, Eminence Elementary School and Eminence Jr.-Sr. High School. ECSC serves students from Adams and Ashland townships in Morgan County, Indiana. The PK-12 student population is approximately 395.
Our Goal
Updates to the Eminence site were planned to be done in a few stages. The first stage was to update the homepage and overall site navigation. They liked the idea of having a photo grid with common links on the homepage. We determined we could also clean up and condense the main navigation.
We also wanted to update and unify the graphics being used on the home page and use their colors in a slightly more subtle way so as to really give the site a professional academic look.
The Process
We added the grid as requested which filled the space much better. The grid layout has links that will take you to the main areas of their website as well as some images and videos of the students in the mix. The images that aren’t links are parallax to give the website some movement when scrolling. We also cleaned up the footer so it wasn’t using as much space and made the content entirely contact information.
A future phase will be to add recent posts between the grid layout and footer which will bring back an updates area on the home page while still keeping it well organized.
Additionally we updated a couple of pages including the staff page, clubs page, and added a calendar. Previously the calendars had all been downloaded pdfs. We updated this to a calendar that is a part of the site and can be updated as needed. It also takes three different calendar options they had and combines them into one. The Clubs page had initially been an unstyled list of all the clubs. We are now using icons to list out the clubs which will also lend nicely if Eminence ever want to make individual pages for any of them.
