It takes a LONG time to rebuild a redundant system when one of the hard drives fails, especially one that holds 2 TERABYTES of data... but all in all, it's a lot LESS time than recreating 20+ years of documents, data, images, and other irreplaceable information.
Are you prepared for the mechanical failure of the pieces of your IT systems? No matter what the length of your warranty, the quality of your backups, or the effectiveness of your crossed fingers, something IS going to break.
You can be prepared.

This morning I watched an online video on sales and marketing in the managed services world, and found it quite insightful and a good reminder of the Sales Process training I went through with Mark Sturgell, my business coach. Some of this was a little more "on target" with the type of business I run, so I thought I'd write up some notes and share them here. The video is available here through a company called Kutenda. I don't really know them well at all, but they've managed to drip market me into watching a video now and have perked my interest. I wonder what stage of the hourglass that puts me in?

This is a good kick-start video about bringing a new professional on as an employee into a professional organization, such as our own. NIck Carter of AddressTwo talks about how he's found quality candidates, things he pays attention to during interviews, and the importance of honesty, character, and keeping your tattoo's above the elbow.

Our tagline here is "We Help Small Business DO Business in a Big Business World." What's that mean? It means we help small organizations, or groups OF those organizations, to excel in doing what they do best without paying the price tag (in dollars, minutes, or commitments) that is considered "typical" for what they do. We empower them. We enable them. We set them free of chains they didn't know could be loosed.
Consider the Daily Audio Bible Podcast. The DAB is consistently one of the top 5 podcasts in ITunes' "Religion and Spirituality" podcast genre. Right now, the DAB actually has two different podcast in the Top 10. I've had personal ties to this ministry since 2006, when I myself decided I wanted to "read through the Bible in a year," much like thousands of other people who have made the podcast both popular and life changing. Knowing how to talk to Google is both a science and an art. I was reminded of that again today when I did some research for a client who's application had hit a barrier that wasn't well documented. Thanks to Google, some trial and error, and a few forum posts, we were able to get everything working just write.

Wow. CRM. Choosing how we're going to go about managing customer relationships never sounded so painful as today. I know the features we want to use, the benefits we want to enjoy, and the goals we want to achieve. So now, instead of having too many options to choose between, I'm left with a feeling that there's nothing out there quite like I want. And that may be true. So, do we reinvent our own version of the wheel, and if so, do we do with the intent to reproduce it, or just go bare minimum for our own value? Hard to say... but we're walking the road, and getting some help while doing so.

Which would you like to take a vacation on? A cruise ship, or a frigate? Which would you like to fight a battle on, or to have a battle waged on your behalf on? In this blog entry, we talk about the value of utility, of clean and hard lines, and of simplicity.

The NCRLA is a group of independently owned franchises of National Car Rental and Alamo Car Rental. There are numerous franchises across the USA, and we work with clients from Anchorage to Puerto Rico. We have had the opportunity to be instrumental in developing a web-based Back Office Reporting System that allow franchise management and bookkeepers access to critical data about their business that simply isn't available through the resources made available to them by their corporate parent.

We have been working with the Daily Audio Bible since 2007. This podcast, listened to by over 10,000 people each day, broadcasts a through-the-Bible-in-a-year reading by Brian Hardin of Spring Hill, Tennessee. C2IT provides network and technical consulting services, load balancing, and a "read-along" that allows listeners to follow along in each day's readings.
